FIS to Acquire mFoundry

FIS logo 140pxFIS announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the remaining 78% interest in mFoundry.
“mFoundry has a well-earned reputation for innovation, powerful vision and agile development and delivers one of the most advanced mobile platforms in the market today,” noted Gary Norcross, FIS president and chief operating officer. “Consumers have adopted the mobile channel faster than any other delivery channel in existence, and delivering industry-best mobile solutions is a vital focus area for FIS. Our goal is to provide the solutions that underpin an organization’s ability to best reach and serve its customers, and the addition of mFoundry plays a key role in that strategy.”

mFoundry's mobile platform has more than 850 clients including some of the largest banks, credit unions, payments processors, and retailers in the US. mFoundry built the original Starbucks Card mobile app.

Dwolla Joins mFoundry’s Service Provider Network

Dwolla logo 140pxDwolla and mFoundry announced a partnership that extends Dwolla's peer-to-peer money transfer service to mFoundry's mobile banking customers.
“mFoundry’s network of more than 800 banks and credit unions creates a breakthrough opportunity to offer peer-to-peer payments to millions of banking customers who want a cost-effective way to move money,” said Dwolla CEO Ben Milne. “Dwolla's partnership with mFoundry delivers an affordable, safe and convenient way to pay anyone at anytime.”

MasterCard and mFoundry Partner On Mobile Payments

MasterCard logo 140pxMasterCard and mFoundry have announced an international collaboration that will help banks and credit unions provide their customers with NFC-enabled mobile wallets. MasterCard also made an equity investment in mFoundry.
The collaboration and investment will combine MasterCard’s Tap & Go PayPass technology with mFoundry’s mobile financial services platform to make mobile contactless payments accessible to more consumers. Mobile PayPass, which uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, enables people to make fast, convenient and highly secure payments by simply tapping their NFC phone on any PayPass-enabled terminal at a merchant check-out.

mFoundry developed and manages Starbucks Card Mobile program, the most successful mobile payments program to date, currently used in more than 6,800 stores nationwide.

mFoundry Launches mDeposit Express Convertible Mobile Deposit Solution

Mfoundry logo 140pxmFoundry announced it has launched mDeposit Express, a "standalone mobile deposit capture solution that banks and credit unions can use to provide customers with an immediate mobile deposit solution, regardless of their current mobile banking platform."

In related mobile banking news, ClairMail announced an impressive 234% year-over-year revenue increase for 2010, along with other assorted growth statistics.

mFoundry Platform Crosses One Million User Mark

mfoundry_logo_140px.pngmFoundry today announced that based on its nearly banking 200 customers, the use of its mobile banking platform now exceeds the one-million user mark.
"While there are some reports indicating that mobile banking growth is slowing, our experience is the complete opposite," commented Sievers. "Over the past nine months, we've seen an average of 10 to 15 new customer signings per month across our direct and channel sales efforts. User adoption is also scaling rapidly with average sequential monthly growth of more than 10%, or nearly 300% annual growth."

In the short-term, the killer app for mFoundry will be frequent-use, closed-loop stored value cards – delivered not by NFC but by the use of 2D bar codes. The Starbucks test announced last week is the first of what Sievers claims will be multiple announcements coming from mFoundry in the near future.

Sprint has announced that its wireless customers with BB&T, Citibank, IBC Bank and PNC Bank accounts can now access their bank accounts and send payments to friends and family using PayPal from most Web-enabled Sprint phones with the launch of Sprint's MyMoneyManager. BB&T Selects ClairMail, mFoundry for Mobile Banking

BB&T has announced it is the first customer of a new partnership between ClairMail and mFoundry for mobile banking and mobile payment services. BB&T said that its "three-phase rollout of the new service is set to begin next month and is expected to be completed in the first quarter when a full menu of mobile banking options will be available to BB&T clients. The services include two-way mobile messaging, mobile Web access and mobile banking applications."
