  • Contactless Card Payments enabled on Vodafone Wallet with Visa and Carta Worldwide - "Vodafone customers will soon be able to add bank cards to their Vodafone Wallet and use smartphones to pay for goods and services at contactless terminals, it was announced today. Following new agreements with Visa and Carta Worldwide, bank card payments via Vodafone Wallet will be enabled in European markets from the second quarter of 2015 onwards."
  • MasterCard Expands San Carlos Center of Excellence - "MasterCard today announced the expansion of its San Carlos Center of Excellence and the relocation of senior vice president of Emerging Merchants, Les Matthews, and his team to the company’s West Coast office. MasterCard will also add global communications support in San Carlos with the relocation of vice president, Worldwide Communications, Brian Gendron. The moves enhance the company’s presence on the ground in Silicon Valley – an important market for continuing to deepen MasterCard’s footprint with the tech community."
  • GTCR Announces Sale of Fundtech to DH Corporation - Aaron Cohen, Managing Director at GTCR, added: “This transaction marks another successful example of GTCR’s Leaders Strategy™, as we worked in partnership with an exceptional management team to execute this complex transformational merger. We are pleased that those efforts have resulted in building a market-leader in transaction banking software.”
  • According to New Chase Slate Credit Survey, Checking Your Credit Score Correlates to Financial Aptitude – Yet Gaps in Consumers’ Credit Health Awareness Still Exist - "The survey reveals that Americans who have previously checked their credit score consider a “good” score to be 719 on average1. This is 51 points higher than what is considered to be good by those who have never checked their score (668). What Americans may not realize is that even a score of 719 might not give them access to credit at the best rates."
  • TimesofMoney Announces Launch of 'Movit' - Talking about Movit, Avijit Nanda, Chief Executive Officer, TimesofMoney, says, “TimesofMoney has several success stories to its credit. American Express Expands OptBlue Merchant Acquirer Program

Amex logo 140pxAmerican Express has announced the expansion of OptBlue, its new merchant acquiring program that extends U.S. small merchant acceptance coverage for its cards.

Amex reports there are now 10 participating acquirers in OptBlue, five of which are among the top 10 in the United States. New to the program are: First Data, EVO, Merchant e-Solutions and First American Payments Systems. The program was announced at American Express’ Financial Community meeting earlier this year with Vantiv, Global Payments, Heartland Payment Systems, Worldpay, Transfirst and JetPay as the first participants. Participating acquirers will provide a full one-stop servicing solution for American Express Card® acceptance to eligible U.S. small merchants.

OptBlue is part of American Express’ ongoing commitment to enhance the U.S. small merchant experience and is an evolution of our acquiring business,” said Ed Jay, Executive Vice President, Merchant Services - Americas, American Express.

“The program will help deliver a smart and easy solution for U.S. small merchants to enjoy the benefits of American Express Card acceptance while making it convenient for consumers to Shop Small® year round.”

With OptBlue, participating acquirers can offer U.S. small merchants the benefit of a single statement, one settlement process, and one contact for all the major card brands. Acquirers determine merchant pricing in addition to providing payment processing and servicing. OptBlue will help expand American Express’ U.S. small merchant coverage, providing consumers more payment options at local businesses. American Express continues to receive the same transactional information it does today, allowing OptBlue merchants to benefit from the valuable tools, services and marketing that the Company delivers to small merchants. OptBlue is limited to eligible U.S. small merchants that have a projected American Express charge volume of less than $1 million per year.

Silicon Valley Bank Introduces International Online Payment Service

Silicon valley bank logo 140pxSilicon Valley Bank (SVB) has announced a new service that will allow its clients to accept 85 different online payment types from their customers globally.
"Our tech-focused clients are selling internationally, even at their earliest stages, so we make every effort to make it easy for them to operate globally," said Pradeep T. Moudgal, Head of Global Cards and Merchant Services, Silicon Valley Bank. "Our clients will find our new payments service is extremely convenient, giving them the ability to deposit funds of any major currency directly into their SVB multi-currency or in-country accounts."

SVB's card processing services are provided through Merchant e-Solutions and Adyen, its international card processing partner.

Merchant e-Solutions Launches PayEverywhere Mobile Payments Platform

Early adopters of PayEverywhere mobile products include Mark Larson, Owner of Marblesoft, LLC. "We use the PayEverywhere iPhone payment solution at trade shows to take orders on the floor. For ease and reliability, it surpasses any other system we've tried."

Merchant e-Solutions (MeS) has announced it has completed the acquisition of the Columbus Bank and Trust (CB&T) merchant business from Synovus. According to the company, it is "utilizing Acculynk’s PaySecure® software-only service for online PIN debit transactions.
