Blackhawk Network Holdings, a majority owned subsidiary of Safeway, completed its initial public offering and began trading earlier Friday on NASDAQ under the symbol HAWK.

Shares were priced at $23 with 10 million shares being offered by the company. In today's trading, the shares advanced 13% to close at $26.01 at the market close. At that price, the market valuation for the company would be about $1.4 billion.

Blackhawk distributes prepaid cards, including gift cards, and connects brands to consumers via partnerships with various retail distributors, such as grocery store chains.

Facebook has introduced the Facebook Card, a new type of 'social' gift card that can hold multiple prepaid balances good at different merchant locations.

After you've received a card, the next time you get a Facebook Card gift, it will instantly be added to your existing card. Your card can hold multiple gift balances, and each balance is dedicated to the retailer associated with the gift. For example, you might have gift balances of $100 at Sephora, $75 at Target, $50 at Olive Garden, and $8.25 at Jamba Juice.

The ability to send a Facebook Card gift will roll out gradually to users in the US.

InComm announced that it has acquired Giftango Corporation, a leading digital gifting solutions provider.

“This acquisition opens doors to new and meaningful distribution channels for InComm merchants and product partners. Giftango is the digital gifting technology behind very large loyalty, incentive and mobile platforms in the US market, and has made inroads internationally as well,” said Brooks Smith, InComm president and CEO. “This also adds proven B2B, e-commerce and promotional toolsets to the portfolio of InComm products.”

Gyft announced its complete application integration with Apple’s Passbook on iOS 6. Gyft offers retailers a simple way to push gift cards to Passbook while giving consumers even more flexibility and convenience for storing, sending, and redeeming their gift cards on Apple’s mobile devices.

Cards are available with no activation fee in $25 denominations during the pilot. The new ATM-dispensed Visa Gift card is made of a durable yet thinner material, which allows cards to easily pass through the cash mechanisms of ATMs.

An in-market pilot program is currently underway offering Visa Gift cards at walk-up and drive-through ATMs in select locations throughout Arizona.
