A new survey released by Visa shows "that only 5 percent of adults learned about the vital life skill of money management in elementary or high school -- a surprisingly low number. The Visa survey of 1,000 cardholders also found that less than half of people (48 percent) learned about money management from their parents while 41 percent were self-taught or learned the hard way. Telemundo have announced the launch of ‘Soluciones Financieras’, an online financial education solution that features Spanish-language personal finance tools and information designed to empower Hispanics to succeed in their financial lives. According to the two companies, "U.S. Hispanics are projected to spend over $926 billion this year; however, research shows they have less understanding and experience managing personal financial matters compared to the average non-Hispanic consumer."

Visa USA has announced the national launch of its What's My Score program - including giving away 5,000 free FICO credit scores - to college students. The launch coincides with the release of a new survey of credit and debit cardholders that shows that only 17 percent of those surveyed knew their FICO credit score by the time they were 21 years old.
