Alliance Data And Dwolla Announce Multi-Year Agreement

Dwolla logo 140pxDwolla and Alliance Data Systems have announced signing a new, multi-year agreement for "Alliance Data's Retail Services business to provide a cardless private label credit product for the Dwolla payment network."

Credit is not new—but providing it on a real-time network that removes interchange fees, supports the evolution of credit, and provides a means of cardless payment—is, and that's what Dwolla Credit does," said Ben Milne, chief executive officer and founder of Dwolla.

"Alliance Data's deep experience and the true interest they have in our company will not only lend a new level of convenience to our community of users, but will also give them front-row seats to what we believe will be some really great innovations to credit."

Alliance Data will provide the newly launched credit program, called Dwolla Credit. Once approved, consumers can use Dwolla Credit immediately and for future purchases at participating businesses found in Dwolla's new Storefront directory (www.dwolla.com/storefront). Interested consumers and businesses can register for access at realtime.dwolla.com.

Alliance Data Announces Agreements With PayPal

PayPal logo 140x60pxAlliance Data 140pxAlliance Data Systems has announced that its Retail Services business, which manages more than 120 branded credit programs, has come to multiple agreements with PayPal.

Under a multi-year agreement with PayPal, Alliance Data will become an issuer for Bill Me Later® credit products and will maintain a partial interest in the receivables generated under the program.

Additionally, Alliance Data and PayPal have agreed to collaborate to support PayPal's offline expansion, which is enabling PayPal to be accepted in more physical merchant locations across the U.S. Consumers who hold a branded private label credit card from Alliance Data's partners that accept PayPal payments will be able to add their branded card through PayPal and continue to use it as their preferred method of payment for PayPal purchases made with those brands when shopping online, in-store or on a mobile device.

Alliance Data's private label partners – which include many top-tier specialty retailers – will have the opportunity to begin adding their branded card programs into PayPal in early 2014.

Heartland to Acquire the Network Services Business of Alliance Data

Heartland Payment Systems has announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the Network Services business of Alliance Data Systems Corporation. 'According to the most recent Nilson report, Alliance Data’s Network Services is one of the industry’s 20 largest payment processors, handling over $17 billion of total annual bank card volume and 604 million transactions in 2007.' Alliance Data Signs 7-Eleven

Alliance Data Systems has announced signing "a multi-year agreement with 7-Eleven, Inc. to provide payment processing services to more than 5,500 7-Eleven-branded convenience stores nationwide. Headquartered in Dallas, 7-Eleven is the largest chain of retail convenience stores, operating, franchising or licensing more than 33,200 stores in 17 countries and one U.S. territory, with worldwide sales
in 2006 exceeding $44 billion."

Alliance Data To Be Acquired by The Blackstone Group

Alliance Data Systems Corporation has announced that it has "entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Blackstone Capital Partners V L.P., an affiliate of The Blackstone Group, in a transaction valued at approximately $7.8 billion, including the assumption of certain debt. Under the terms of the agreement, Blackstone will acquire all of the outstanding common stock of Alliance Data for $81.75 per share in cash. The purchase price represents a premium of approximately 30 percent over Alliance Data's closing share price of $62.96 on May 16, 2007."
