Accertify recently commissioned a study of “connected” U.S. adults – or those with access to both a smartphone and a web-enabled computer – to learn more about how consumers perceive and are affected by online fraud.

… by large margins, online shoppers find computers more trustworthy than tablets or smartphones when making online purchases: 81% of respondents perceive their computer to be the most secure device for online shopping whereas only 7% trust their smartphone and 3% trust their tablets.

According to the survey, consumers today are conducting the most online transactions in the retail industry (57%), followed by banking and finance (51%), travel (27%), music and movie downloads (24%), and entertainment industries (18%).

Accertify has announced that Global Payments will offer Accertify risk management technology to its eCommerce merchants.

Through the existing Global Transport gateway, merchants will be able to easily leverage the fraud protection and data management capabilities of Accertify, enabling them to protect against card-not-present (CNP) fraud and mitigate counterfeit and identify theft risks.

First Data has announced the next step in its eCommerce fraud detection and prevention solution with the launch of Fraud FlexDetect, built in collaboration with Accertify.

American Express has announced it has agreed to acquire Accertify, a "leading provider of solutions that help merchants combat fraudulent online and other card-not-present transactions."

Accertify offers merchants the option to outsource their end-to-end fraud management process. Many of its customers have quickly achieved significant gains in the efficiency, accuracy and productivity of their fraud prevention efforts with reductions of 50% or more in their fraud losses and customer complaints due to fraud.

First Data and Accertify have announced an agreement to integrate Accertify's fraud prevention platform with First Data's eCommerce processing gateways and platforms.

According to the two companies, "the integration of Accertify's Interceptas® platform will provide First Data with a comprehensive, end-to-end fraud deterrence solution. This solution will equip First Data's customers with tools to help mitigate risk and reduce losses associated with fraud.
