  • EPC gears up for pan-European instant payments - Finextra - "A new voluntary pan-European instant credit transfer scheme that will bring real-time money transfers across the Single Euro Payments Area (Sepa) is on course to go live in November, with five countries onboard from the off. The European Payments Council is introducing the Sepa Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst) scheme in response to concerns that the emergence of new domestic platforms, such as the UK's Faster Payments, might end up creating a fragmented market in Europe, similar to what existed in regular payments in the past."
  • Global Card Payments Volume Could Exceed $450B In 2017 - Retail Touch Points (Infographic) - "Digital payments will take a great leap forward in 2017, with global non-cash transaction volumes predicted to grow between 10% and 15%, potentially surpassing $450 billion."
  • Shopify Merchants Will Soon Be Able to Sell Through EBay - Bloomberg - "The Ottawa-based company’s strategy has been to integrate with as many online channels as possible, letting its customers diversify away from their personal websites and sell on Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, Buzzfeed, and Amazon. Shopify also provides payment tools, shipping and small loans to help its users build their businesses."
  • Contactless travel card offers automatic repayments for delayed trains - NFC World - "The Auto Delay Repay service is currently available for season ticket holders using a contactless Key Smartcard to travel on Thameslink and Great Northern trains operated by the UK’s Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) and will be expanded “in the coming weeks” to Southern and Gatwick Express services as well."
  • Thieves Used Infrared to Pull Data from ATM ‘Insert Skimmers’ - Krebs on Security - "A greater number of ATM skimming incidents now involve so-called “insert skimmers,” wafer-thin fraud devices made to fit snugly and invisibly inside a cash machine’s card acceptance slot. New evidence suggests that at least some of these insert skimmers — which record card data and store it on a tiny embedded flash drive — are equipped with technology allowing them to transmit stolen card data wirelessly via infrared, the same communications technology that powers a TV remote control."
  • Mobile Payments in China are Working everywhere (Video) - Dekho World - "Cash is going out of fashion in China. "
  • Germany makes arrests over theft of giant solid-gold coin - BBC - "Police have raided homes and made arrests in Berlin over an audacious night-time heist which saw a huge solid-gold coin stolen from a museum."
  • Man trapped inside Texas ATM for 3 hours is rescued by police - Boston Globe - "Just after 2 p.m. Wednesday, a person in Corpus Christi, Texas, had just completed a transaction at a Bank of America ATM when a surprise slid through the receipt slot. “Please help,” read a handwritten note on a thin strip of paper. “I’m stuck in here, and I don’t have my phone.”"


  • Visa and YellowPepper Partner to Accelerate New Payment Solutions in Latin America and the Caribbean - "Visa Inc. (NYSE:V) today announced a partnership agreement with YellowPepper, a mobile payments pioneer in Latin America, to help accelerate the adoption of new payment solutions in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). As part of the partnership, the first of its kind in the region, YellowPepper will help Visa issuers, acquirers and merchants to implement solutions to deliver new payment customer experiences. Specifically, YellowPepper will aid with the implementation of particular solutions, including project management services, UX design and services for the development and delivery of mobile applications."
  • Vantiv Announces eCommerce Payments and Security Extensions for Magento Platforms - "Vantiv, Inc. (NYSE: VNTV), a leading provider of payment processing services and technology for merchants and financial institutions of all sizes, today announced it is developing comprehensive eCommerce payments and security extensions for the Magento 1 and Magento 2 platforms from Magento Commerce, the worldwide leader in cloud digital commerce innovation."
