PreCash Announces PreCash Secure Payment Services

With its Secure Payment Services, PreCash offers Money Service Businesses (MSBs) agent agreements that ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations and include risk management and settlement features. PreCash agents are able to sell, load or unload prepaid debit stored value products and can transmit money for the purpose of prepaid wireless refills and bill payment.

Recurly Launches Payment Gateway Designed For Subscription Billing

Recurly logo 200Recurly announced that "it has released a payment gateway designed specifically to handle the unique requirements of recurring billing. The Recurly payment gateway enables companies who provide services on a subscription basis, to benefit from subscriber renewal management capabilities as well as credit card error optimization achieved only by extremely expensive, custom-built systems in the past." Recurly is partnered with TSYS for this new service.

MasterCard and Western Union Partner on Electronic Payments

WesternUnion logo 140px MasterCard logo 140px MasterCard and Western Union have announced a global agreement to cooperate on prepaid cards and money transfers.
MasterCard and Western Union have been working together to provide prepaid card services for the past year. The expanded global relationship makes MasterCard the preferred brand for Western Union-sponsored prepaid programs around the world and makes Western Union the preferred money transfer service for MasterCard. Consumers will have access to a global network to transfer and load funds onto prepaid cards. Western Union and MasterCard prepaid cardholders will be able to reload their prepaid cards at MasterCard rePower locations as well as at participating Western Union® Agent locations.

'An Easy Way To Pay' Is Not Enough

In a recently announced white paper entitled 'Mobile Wallet – Definition and Vision’, the bank-led industry association argues that it will take a lot more than just contactless payment card emulation to drive consumer use of mobile wallets.

RFID Helps Tampa Bay Lightning Drive Fan Loyalty and Ticket Sales

Ncr logo 140pxNCR has announced the successful integration of RFID technology with its Quest Venue Management software solution and the Lightning’s hockey jerseys, helping drive sales and loyalty at games.
Full season ticket members are rewarded with the exclusive jersey, enabling them to get discounts on food, beverages and retail items when wearing the jersey at home games. Discounts are delivered when the RF chip, embedded into the sleeve of the jersey, is scanned with the RF reader at checkout at a concession stand or in the retail store. Since implementing the program the Lightning have seen a significant increase in demand for full season tickets and a sea of blue jerseys in the stands at home games.
NCR worked with Tampa Bay Lightning to roll out the program, which required installation of 10,000 RF chips into exclusive season ticket holder jerseys and the integration of approximately 250 RF readers into the Quest terminals throughout the arena.

Seamless Launches QR-based Mobile Payments Alternative

Seqr logo 140pxSeamless, a Swedish startup, has announced the launch of a new mobile payment solution called 'SEQR'.
The new solution will enable customers to use smart phones rather than credit or debit cards to make payments. By using a mobile phone to scan a QR code at the cash register, the customer can authorise that the payment is drawn from their bank account or credit provider. The Seamless solution – for which patent is currently pending in a total of 41 different criteria – makes it possible for retailers to avoid the high fees charged by credit card companies.

The new Red Laser app has integrated Milo for local inventory and PayPal’s Mobile Express checkout for payment. One of the first merchants to integrate this truly multi-channel experience is Toys R Us.

NRF and Other Groups File Lawsuit Against Fed Over Durbin Amendment

NRF logo 140 The National Retail Federation, the Food Marketing Institute, the National Association of Convenience Stores and two retailers announced they have filed a lawsuit in federal court saying the Federal Reserve failed to follow the Durbin Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Act of 2010.
“The Federal Reserve was required by law to come up with swipe fees that were ‘reasonable’ and ‘proportional’ but what we got were neither,” NRF Senior Vice President and CEO General Counsel Mallory Duncan said. “Instead, the Fed allowed themselves to be influenced by the very banks they are supposed to regulate and raised the originally proposed cap to include expenses the law said were not allowed. In doing so, they literally gave away half the savings that could have been seen by merchants and their customers. We want them to go back and follow the law this time.”

MasterCard and Telefónica Create Mobile Joint Venture in Brazil

"The initiative will create a mobile wallet allowing consumers to make payments via their mobile phones as well as transfer funds, pay bills and make online purchases."

WorldPay and Diners Club Expand Acceptance Partnership in Europe

Shopkick now lets mobile users earn more redeemable kicks by choosing to link their eligible Visa debit or credit card into its new Buy & Collect program and then making qualifying purchases at participating shopkick merchants with the linked card. Shopkick users have the option to earn more rewards while shopping in their favorite stores and merchants can increase sales and better measure the effectiveness of their location-based marketing efforts.
Through Visa’s real-time messaging platform, shopkick merchants can also offer Visa cardholders rewards visiting and browsing in a store, as well as making qualifying purchases while they are in the store.

Chase and British Airways Unveil Airline Co-Brand Card with EMV

Chase logo 140px Chase and British Airways have announced that EMV chip-with-signature technology is now available on the British Airways Visa Card.
“The addition of EMV chip-with-signature to the British Airways Visa Card offers cardmembers a higher level of convenience,” said Naney Pandit, general manager, Chase Card Services. “Since most of our cardmembers frequently travel abroad, we want to provide them with benefits that make them feel right at home, no matter where they are. Cardmembers can now use the British Airways Card at any chip-enabled, point-of-sale device, such as train ticket kiosk, restaurant or gas station.”

Salvation Army Red Kettles to Accept Credit Card Payments via Square

Square logo 140pxThe Salvation Army has announced that "it will accept credit-card donations via on-site smartphones equipped with Square credit card readers at its Red Kettles in select cities this Christmas. The readers, provided by the San Francisco based company Square, Inc., will make donating to The Salvation Army easier and faster than ever before. The devices will be used by Salvation Army bell ringers on smartphones donated by Sprint in select markets, including San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas and New York, to allow donors who don’t carry cash to give via credit card."

These operators include China Mobile and China Unicom, which account for nearly 800 million connections throughout China. These handset and SIM specifications will enable the development and global deployment of secure, interoperable and ubiquitous SIM-based mobile NFC services."

Google Checkout is Transitioning to Google Wallet

Visa Digital Wallet To Be Named "V.me"

V me logo 140x60pxVisa has told AllThingsD that it will use V.me as the go-to-market brand for its new Visa Digital Wallet. The company had said earlier that the online wallet would have its own acceptance mark that differentiates the new multi-card brand wallet from the traditional Visa acceptance mark.

In a related "development", Visa has also announced the launch of a new developer center (developer.visa.com) that brings together tools and resources for V.me, CyberSource, Authorize.net, PlaySpan, and Fundamo.
