INSIDE Contactless has introduced the MicroPass 6000 dual-interface intelligent payment processor, designed as an EMV-compliant platform providing both contact and contactless operation.

The MicroPass 6000 dual-interface platform was specifically designed to meet the high-volume requirements of EMV markets in Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region, as well as Canada, and for U.S. issuers providing dual-interface cards for cardholders traveling internationally. INSIDE is currently developing five unique application configurations based on the MicroPass 6000 platform that include branded credit, debit and transit applications in various combinations. In addition, INSIDE is prepared to work with other major brands and organizations on custom configurations that require dual interface capabilities. Samples of MicroPass 6000 product configurations will be available in November for manufacturers in chip and module form.

"With the introduction of the MicroPass 6000, INSIDE's industry-leading contactless technology is now available in a dual-interface design. With a common operating system across all our platforms, issuers can easily provide a consistent brand experience for all cardholders while retaining the flexibility to develop multiple proprietary applications that meet their business objectives," said Charles Walton, executive vice president for INSIDE Contactless. "INSIDE introduced the industry's first true multi-application contactless payment platform in 2005, and the MicroPass 6000 builds upon that proven technology, providing an EMV-compliant, multi-brand payment platform capable of also supporting a variety of transit, access control, identity, loyalty and other applications for unmatched flexibility."

The MicroPass 6000 platform supports both ISO 14443-B contactless and ISO 7816 contact protocols, and is designed to be compliant with both EMV CL v1.1 and v2.0, type B and EMV v4.1 Book 1 interoperability standards. It features a fast, low-power, 16-bit proprietary RISC microprocessor, an advanced native operating system, a multi-application architecture, optimized hardware computing resources, proven data management support capabilities and an optional hardware RSA co-processor. An optional File Manager application allows for the creation of secure data storage applications for retail loyalty, transit, ID, and access control applications along with core payment applications. Hardware-based encryption provides robust security while accelerating performance. All MicroPass products are licensed for DPA countermeasures from CRI. Each product will be configured to provide a highly scalable solution for one or more very specific mass-market applications such as payment, transit fare collection, ID, access control and other emerging uses. Packaging options include wafer, module, module with reference antenna/prelam - all for design into dual interface cards, microSD devices and other mobile payment peripheral devices.
