Ingenico_logo-140px.jpgIngenico has announced the launch of the Payment Personal Digital Assistant (PayPDA), the Ingenico iPA280. According to the company, by "combining secure card payment and PDA functionality, the unique Ingenico device transforms the sales environment into a mobile POS, offering superior quality of service and a complete purchasing experience. This includes secured payment through instant access to online value added applications - from online databases and web based business applications to stock and timetable queries, GPS location services, order processing and even lottery sales."

Engineered for mobility, the versatile iPA280 is compact, stylish and lightweight - yet rugged enough to cope with even the toughest working environment. Currently under PCI PED 2.0 certification process and EMV certified, the new Ingenico iPA280 delivers security-as-standard by leveraging Ingenico's world leading payment solution portfolio.

"This is a defining moment in the development of the payment terminal, and we are proud to be once again at the forefront of technology thanks to the iPA280," said Philippe Lazare, CEO, Ingenico. "This new generation of hardware is an important step forward in implementing our Beyond Payment strategy that provides our customers with the solutions they need to confront the latest challenges in the payment market.

Christophe Dolique, EVP Global Marketing and Transaction Services, Ingenico, comments: "Adding comprehensive PDA functionality to a rugged and affordable payment device changes the rules of the game. For the first time retail, hospitality, transportation and mobile brands can add real value to the consumer experience, while generating significant incremental revenues at POS. While the concept has been discussed in the market for some time, Ingenico has become the first to deliver a true multi-market device. It addresses 'real world' use cases at the right price point and in large enough volumes to assure brands can consolidate their device portfolios onto the Ingenico device and see estate management costs drop. We are terribly excited by the potential of this unique device and look forward to extending our technology and market leadership position with its introduction."
