A Look at Intuit's New GoPayment Mobile Acceptance Solution
Earlier this year, Intuit "soft launched" its new GoPayment mobile card acceptance solution for merchants. Yesterday, Intuit officially announced the new service - "GoPayment helps small businesses improve sales and cash flow by using their mobile phones to accept credit card payments. GoPayment is affordable and hassle-free. All that’s needed is a mobile phone with access to the mobile Web, or the easy-to-download GoPayment application, and an Intuit GoPayment merchant account."
Card payments can either be key-entered into a mobile phone handset - or cards can be swiped using new Bluetooth-connected mag stripe readers (one includes a printer as well) that are also available from Intuit. Both a direct web interface and a downloadable application (only certain phones) approach are supported.
Intuit also said it is working with Sprint to help small businesses get paid easily and quickly using the GoPayment application on select Sprint phones.
In terms of pricing, the GoPayment service has a monthly fee of $19.95 plus a $20 monthly minimum of transaction fees. Usual per transaction merchant discount and authorization fees also apply along with a one-time setup fee of $59.95. Merchant account applications for the GoPayment service can be completed online or by phone.
