Wells Fargo Announces Products, Services Every Traveler Should Know
Wells Fargo is offering a broad array of products and services to help domestic and international travelers navigate through potentially challenging situations they may encounter even before they hit the road – including emergency card replacement/credit line increases, mobile and online banking enhancements, and foreign exchange services.
“Many circumstances outside a traveler’s control can impact a trip, including limited financial payment options, lost or stolen wallets, unforeseen medical bills and natural disasters,” said Kevin Rhein, head of Wells Fargo Card Services and Consumer Lending. “Whether traveling for work or pleasure, smart financial planning can make all of the difference between an amazing experience or an adventure in financial survival. We hope by offering these products and services, our customers can enjoy their trip from beginning to end.”
Debit and Credit Card Services for Cardholders
Wells Fargo offers many special products and services for cardholders, including Instant ATM cards, security monitoring, zero liability for promptly reported fraudulent transactions, toll free numbers for domestic and international travelers, credit card replacement, emergency credit line increases and emergency cash.
If customers lose their ATM or Check Card but do not have time to receive a new one in the mail, Wells Fargo can provide an instant replacement ATM card at Wells Fargo banking stores. Whether on the road or staying in their home towns, Wells Fargo has numerous ways to protect customers from fraud– including monitoring transactions for unusual activity. Customers are encouraged to notify Wells Fargo of travel plans to help ensure the card will not be temporarily suspended because it is being used out of normal charging patterns in another state or country. Wells Fargo cardholders are protected by the built-in WellsProtect® program, which provides zero liability if a card is ever used without the customer’s permission when promptly reported. If cards are lost, stolen or temporarily suspended, customers can contact Wells Fargo toll free at 800-642-4720 domestically and collect at 925-825-7600 internationally. Wells Fargo can rush a replacement card to customers almost anywhere in the world. For those exceptional situations where customers find themselves in a financial bind while traveling, Wells Fargo can temporarily increase their line of credit on their credit card or arrange for emergency cash for debit and credit card customers.
Mobile Banking Can Be Financial Lifeline
Travelers who use Wells Fargo Mobile Banking can conduct a variety of banking transactions—like seeing account balances and recent activity-- from the road choosing to use the secure mobile web site (wf.com) or text messaging service (short code: 93557 for “Wells”).
The simple, intuitive design of wf.com lets customers complete their banking quickly, including paying bills, transferring funds between eligible Wells Fargo accounts, and finding the nearest ATM or Wells Fargo bank location. In addition, mobile banking is covered by Wells Fargo’s Online Security Guarantee. Wells Fargo customers who use iPhone or iPod touch can get one-tap access to their accounts by visiting wf.com from their Safari browser, pressing the “plus” sign on the navigation bar and selecting “Add to Home Screen.”
Online Banking Makes Travel Less Stressful
Wells Fargo also provides automatic account alerts that keep customers informed about balances and transactions without them having to log on to wellsfargo.com. Customers can choose to have alerts sent to their mobile phone or up to three email addresses.
Before their trip, customers can set-up automatic bill payments through the online bill pay service or on their debit or credit card. That way, when they’re away from home, they don’t have to think about the bills. Travelers needing extra funds on the road can benefit from online money transfers and can transfer money instantly between their eligible Wells Fargo accounts from anywhere in the world.
Travelers also can organize their important information and use the templates provided by Wells Fargo for recording key personal information such as wallet contents with the Wells Fargo vSafeSM service. From the road, customers can conveniently access copies of documents, such as passports, prescriptions, personal records and travel itineraries with vSafe. If an original document is lost, destroyed or stolen, a copy can sometimes come in handy.
Foreign Currency Exchange Available Three Ways
International travelers can more learn about currency and the commonly accepted methods of payment prior to and during a trip by visiting Wells Fargo’s Money Tips for International Travel online (www.wellsfargo.com/biz/international/select_country).
Travelers can avoid foreign currency exchange line hassles and save valuable time by purchasing currency from Wells Fargo before they leave – either online (http://www.foreignexchangeservices.com), by phone (800-626-9430), or over-the-counter at more than 400 Wells Fargo banking stores nationwide (see the online International Teller site locator for a complete listing). Upon return to the U.S., travelers can exchange leftover paper currency at Wells Fargo.
