TSYS Acquiring Solutions Adds Healthcare Provider POS Solutions

TSYS Acquiring Solutions has announced partnership agreements with mPay Gateway and Nova Libra to provide point-of-sale payment solutions that meet the needs of healthcare providers and their patients, as well as pharmacies and drug stores.

Medical providers experience a substantial financial burden from outstanding patient receivables and related collection expenses. With mPay Gateway’s point-of-sale solution, providers are able to calculate the patient portion of the service fees before a patient leaves the doctors’ office, beginning the collection process immediately. This seamless process helps avoid expensive collection fees or having to write off patient accounts as uncollectable, while providing greater patient payment clarity.

“Our physician practice customers have seen a 50 percent reduction in outstanding accounts receivables using the mPay Gateway solution,” said Brian K. Beutner, chief executive officer, mPay Gateway. “They appreciate the service and confidence that comes from having the power of TSYS behind their transactions.”

Effective June 30, 2009, an Internal Revenue Services (IRS) mandate prohibits Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) debit cards from being accepted at most drug store and pharmacy retail locations without an Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS). An IIAS identifies eligible healthcare FSA/HRA purchases by comparing inventory control information such as UPC or SKU numbers against an IRS-established acceptable list.

TSYS Acquiring Solutions, in partnership with Nova Libra, now provides a comprehensive IIAS solution with auto-substantiation purchase item eligibility.1 Building on the popular Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System® (RMS) software, pharmacies and drug stores have the tools necessary to ensure IRS compliance, while combining card processing, inventory, staff scheduling and financial management activities into one PC device.

“We’re excited to combine Nova Libra’s experience in the pharmacy market with TSYS’ experience in payments to provide a leading IIAS solution,” said Tom Greenhaw, chief executive officer, Nova Libra.

“Today’s environment creates challenges and opportunities for healthcare providers,” said Robert J. Philbin, president, TSYS Acquiring Solutions. “We are strategically positioned to deliver market-leading, innovative solutions that enable the healthcare industry to comply with government regulations, improve efficiencies, enhance business processes and reduce expenses.”
