Rite Aid Upgrades POS to Support Flexible Spending Account Cards
Rite Aid has announced that its stores nationwide "now make it easy for customers to use their Flexible Spending Account (FSA) debit cards. Upgraded pharmacy and front end cash registers simplify tracking health spending by printing receipts that identify items that may be eligible for reimbursement as part of a flexible spending account benefit plan."
Rite Aid is utilizing an Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS) to allow customers to pay for eligible healthcare items with FSA debit cards. Eligible healthcare purchases on receipts are identified with an "H" to the right of the item's price. These items are tallied by the cash register and can be paid for by an FSA debit card. The remaining balance for non-eligible items is paid for separately.
Functionally similar to other debit cards, these FSA debit cards allow customers to purchase certain health items using funds from a pre-tax account. Customers with questions should contact their plan's administrator. Many plan administrators advise participants to save all applicable receipts.

It is facinating the diversity of payment related products you guys have compared to us in Canada. We get excited about gift cards.

This is great news. Thanks for the information!
One of our largest clients employees use Rite-Aid all the time and their transactions were of course not auto approving. It causes us to request more receipts, and makes the employees more unhappy. This will be a great improvement.
