Alltel Wireless, mFoundry Team Together to Offer the Alltel Wallet

Tags » Mobile Banking, Mobile Payments  » Comments (0)

Alltel Wireless has announced that it will be using mFoundry’s mobile wallet platform to create the Alltel Wallet. "The Alltel Wallet will initially provide access to a consolidated mobile banking experience, providing its customers access to a large variety of U.S. financial institutions. mFoundry’s technology, which combines comprehensive mobile banking, mobile payments and mobile commerce capabilities, will provide Alltel the necessary platform to plug in enhanced financial solutions and other advanced functionality from select third party developers."

mFoundry’s mobile financial services platform is based on Mojax™ technology, which has received industry recognition for its mobile development toolset. As the only dynamically extensible wallet platform in the market, mFoundry’s platform allows the Alltel Wallet to rapidly evolve by giving third party developers an ability to easily add modules to the wallet. mFoundry’s mobile wallet platform has pre-built modules for peer-to-peer remittances and other payment services to help developers deploy new features quickly and easily.

“The mobile financial application space is becoming increasingly more complex. We believe that mFoundry’s platform enables Alltel to simplify and deliver a seamless experience to our customers, while providing access to a comprehensive set of financial services and content – all in one mobile location,” said Brian Stankiewicz, director of mobile financial solutions at Alltel Wireless. “The Alltel Wallet developed on mFoundry’s MojaxTM platform provides Alltel with a great foundation that is extensible to other mobile platforms and able to evolve with our customers’ needs.”

“Recent research has shown that early adopter consumers are willing to switch mobile carriers to gain access to mobile payments solutions,” said Drew Sievers, CEO and co-founder of mFoundry. “We are very pleased to team with Alltel in creating the Alltel Wallet and anticipate that this new application will help drive adoption of mobile financial solutions in the U.S.”

The Alltel Wallet will debut in early 2009. Alltel Wireless recently launched Alltel Mobile Banking, a free service giving its customers mobile access to accounts from many of the nation’s leading financial institutions. The Alltel Wallet will provide one-stop access to those financial institutions as well as access to many other payment services.
