Bill Me Later Now Available on Newly Launched Borders.com

Tags » Bill Me Later, ECommerce Payments, Merchants

Bill Me Later has announced that Borders has added its alternative payment functionality to its newly launched e-commerce site at Borders.com. "With Bill Me Later, Borders shoppers will be able to add to their book, movie and music collections online and via phone without sharing their credit card information." Borders.com is also offering customers no payments for 90 days on purchases of $99 or more with Bill Me Later.

"When we designed Borders.com we knew it was important for the site to include alternative payment options," said Kevin Ertell, vice president of e-business for Borders Group. "Bill Me Later was the clear choice as it represents the next generation of payments. It can be used both online and in the call center, and its service and consumer convenience are critical elements of our plan to acquire new customers."

Studies show that the online channel is a bright spot for retailers; therefore, it is important now more than ever to provide the payment options consumers are seeking. According to Forrester Research Senior Analyst Sucharita Mulpuru's February 2008 report, Why Consumers Like Alternative Payment Methods When Shopping Online, "Paying with credit cards online is unfortunately a cumbersome task that requires numerous keystrokes by customers. Alternative payment methods have established themselves as simpler vehicles for completing transactions, which consumers appreciate. Significant percentages of consumers report finding tools like Bill Me Later a little or much easier to use than credit cards."

Bill Me Later, Inc. allows brands to simplify the payment experience to capture lost sales, increase customer loyalty and maximize profits. Through a single implementation of its Bill Me Later product suite, brands gain access to a set of technology solutions, including Bill Me Later, Bill Me Later Business, promotional financing, private label credit card programs and integrated marketing programs.

"We are excited to announce the addition of Borders to our growing network of more than 900 brands," said Gary Marino, CEO of Bill Me Later, Inc. "Bill Me Later, Inc. provides a strategic, multichannel advantage proven to attract new customers and boost sales. We work closely with our partners to streamline payment strategies that delight customers and deliver immediate results to the bottom line."
