Chase, Canadian Cancer Society Launch Charitable Card in Canada

Tags » Canada, Card Reward Programs, Chase Card Services, MasterCard

Chase Card Services and the Canadian Cancer Society have announced the launch of the PayPass-enabled Canadian Cancer Society MasterCard from Chase. By using the card for daily purchases, one per cent of customers’ eligible net purchases will be donated directly to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The donation process is simple and automatic for consumers. The donation amount will appear on customers’ monthly billing statements, where they can track their donated amount throughout the calendar year. At the end of the calendar year, customers who have donated $25 or more throughout the year will receive a tax receipt from the Canadian Cancer Society.

“Approximately two in five Canadians will develop cancer during their lifetime, but today almost 60 per cent survive thanks to decades of leading-edge research and the ongoing support of dedicated volunteers and generous donors,” said Lesley Ring, director, corporate development, Canadian Cancer Society. “Using the official card of the Canadian Cancer Society is a small, everyday action people can take to support our mission to eradicate cancer and enhance the quality of life of people living with cancer.”

“The new Canadian Cancer Society MasterCard, available nationwide, is an opportunity to reach more Canadians with a message of hope in our common fight against this terrible disease,” said Rob Paterson, president, Chase Card Services Canada. “More donations mean more cutting-edge research and more ways to support thousands of Canadians and Canadian families who are touched by cancer.”

The Canadian Cancer Society MasterCard from Chase can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted. The card will be PayPass®-enabled, providing the added convenience of Tap & Go® at leading merchants across Canada.

“We feel privileged to have been asked to be involved in such a worthy endeavour,” Kevin Stanton, president, MasterCard Canada, said. “My congratulations go to Chase for developing an innovative way to help the fight against cancer. I encourage all Canadians to support the communities in which they live and work through worthy causes such as the Canadian Cancer Society.”

“I lost my brother to cancer 10 years ago, so this is a cause very close to my heart,” said Frank Ferragine, weather and gardening specialist, CityTV. “I’m excited to be a part of this program and hope other people join me and these outstanding organizations in the fight against cancer.”
