AAA has announced it has enhanced its prepaid card products using Visa Inc. and MetaBank as key program partners. The new AAA Visa TravelMoney card and Visa Gift card are now available at participating AAA locations across the country.

The AAA Visa TravelMoney card is a prepaid, reloadable Visa debit card, which offers travelers a safe and convenient alternative to travelers' checks and cash. The card can be used everywhere Visa credit cards are accepted, as well as ATMs around the world.

Travelers using the AAA Visa TravelMoney card will also benefit from being able to obtain local currency at any Visa ATM around the world, and emergency card and cash replacement anywhere in the world, generally within one business day.

With lost luggage reimbursement and the ability to reload the AAA Visa TravelMoney card anywhere via phone or the Internet, AAA members have the flexibility and convenience of a Visa card and the security of a travelers cheque, plus much more. Cardholders also have access to translation assistance 24 hours a day, medical and legal referrals, emergency trip arrangements, and emergency messages relayed to relatives. For additional information about all services offered with the AAA Visa TravelMoney card, please visit AAA.com/travelmoney.

"AAA is delighted to expand our relationship with Visa to offer our members reliable access to funds, while traveling around the globe," said Tom Wilt, AAA's managing director of Partnership Programs. "Visa has built a reputation of excellence, and AAA is proud to exclusively offer the AAA Visa TravelMoney card to our members."

"Visa is pleased to work with AAA to extend the benefits of Visa prepaid products to their members," said Steve Diamond, prepaid products, Visa Inc. "Our agreement will allow AAA to provide domestic and international travelers with added convenience and security when carrying funds, just in time for the busy traveling season."

Two years ago, I bought AAA cash card for a trip to France. The card was accepted with no problem in Paris. However, in Lyon and in Provence, it would work only from ATM machines but not in restaurants or stores. Has this problem been worked out? AAA told me when I returned that "it should have worked" and they had no idea why it would not work. They said it had to be run as credit.
Recently, I read that many debit cards will not work in France because of a new chip on the face of French cards. Can anyone speak to these problems?
