paybox, VIVOtech Partner for NFC-Enabled Mobile Payments

Tags » Mobile Payments, Near Field Communication (NFC), Vivotech

paybox and ViVOtech have announced they are partnering "to extend NFC-enabled remote and proximity m-Payments anytime and anywhere, in virtually any e-Commerce or m-Commerce scenario."

Today, NFC-enabled payments are limited by location. Combining technology from m-Commerce leaders paybox and ViVOtech, proximity payments (face-to-face transactions at the point-of-sale, or POS) where the subscriber pays by tapping his NFC-phone at a contactless reader with an active NFC card instead of physically swiping a card through a terminal are speeding up the checkout line. However, to be universally adopted and viable across industries, mobile payments using these technologies must also extend to accept true remote payments anytime, anywhere. Using the paybox-VIVOtech joint solution, a subscriber pays by simply tapping his NFC-enabled handset at a Smart Poster, a sign or billboard or any other form of advertising which incorporates a passive or unpowered NFC Tag, and initiates payment or redemption to receive a content download, bus ticket, or access to a local Wi-Fi hotspot.

Under the agreement, the new solution leverages the paybox Money Mobiliser product for mobile payments and ViVOtech's best selling contactless ViVOpay NFC readers and commercial grade OTA provisioning infrastructure software, ViVOnfc that supports NFC mobile payments. The integrated platform provides an end-to-end framework, under which mobile payment applications can be launched and accept both proximity and remote payments.

"We are thrilled about this new partnership with ViVOtech," states Eckhard Ortwein, CEO paybox. "Together, we can shape the long term vision of NFC and in the short term, we can create exciting mobile interfaces for end customer to get access and to pay for existing content and e-Commerce offerings".

"ViVOtech is excited to be working with paybox to extend payments from the point of sale to almost any location. This flexibility allows consumers to use their phones in new lifestyle changing ways, offering convenience, speed and secure payments," said Mohammad Khan, President & Founder, ViVOtech Inc.. "Fully integrating paybox technology into our platform is a natural fit and a major benefit to merchants and consumers."
