Mobile Payments Need an Open Ecosystem
Lynn Tan writes for ZDNet Asia on comments by David Vander, Microsoft's managing director of banking for worldwide financial services, about mobile payments. Vander comments that "we all know that for widespread consumer adoption, that (ecosystem) has to be far more generalized and open."
Anyone how has tried to get into the mobile payment space have reached the same conclusion -- 1) there is a huge technology gap (such as in NFC), 2) the network operators want control, 3) the credit card companies want control. The banks are open minded thought, it seems.
