Annals of Visa Cash and Mondex Cards
I recently purchased an Apple iPod touch - and when it arrived a couple of days ago I was struck by how it looked a bit like a large-ish credit card - especially when turned on its side. Got me wondering what this fascinating chunk of technology might look like - and be capable of - in another 5 or 10 years.
This brought back memories of one of the Visa Super Smart Card project - a project at Visa in the late 1980's that pushed the envelope of what technologies could be packed into a standard credit card form factor.
Fortunately, Paul Steger has been dedicated to preserving the history of that era on his Visa Cash and Mondex Cards web site. Paul's collected lots of fascinating history about some of the more advanced card developments in the industry - some great weekend browsing and reading!
