Barclaycard UK Provides Details on OnePulse Card

Tags » Barclays, Contactless Payments, Transit Payments

In the UK, Barclaycard has announced "the new look and name of its unique card which will combine Oyster, credit and contactless functionalities. The new three-in-one card will be called Barclaycard OnePulse and is on track to be launched across London this September. Barclaycard OnePulse will be the only UK credit card that combines the ease and convenience of Oyster with the security and flexibility of Barclaycard and new contactless technology."

Ideal for commuters who live and work around London it can be used in three ways:

  • Oyster card - Barclaycard OnePulse cardholders will enjoy the cheapest fares on the Transport for London network using Oyster exactly as they do today, either pay-as-you-go or season ticket. Oyster is hosted on the same card but is entirely separate from your credit card account
  • Barclaycard OnePulse cardholders will continue to enjoy the flexible credit and security of a standard chip and PIN credit card for larger transactions (over £10)
  • Cashless OneTouch payment, using UK contactless technology. Allows cardholders to make low value purchases of £10 or under more quickly and conveniently with OneTouch of their card against a reader instead of entering a PIN or signature, thus reducing a customer’s reliance on cash. These transactions are listed on the cardholders credit card statement

Elizabeth Chambers, Barclaycard Chief Marketing Officer says: “London is a fast paced, dynamic city that is always looking to the future. We wanted a brand name that conveyed the sense of energy that runs through the city whilst at the same time highlighting the card’s unique three-in-one feature. We believe Barclaycard OnePulse is the future of payments in London and hope as many Londoners as possible enjoy the benefits when it is rolled out in the Autumn.”

Barclaycard today gave the first chance to see the design of the new card which can be seen at www.barclaycard-onepulse.co.uk. The card was designed by leading creative design agency Kino Design and has been developed to reflect the fact that Barclaycard OnePulse is the only card a Londoner needs.

To allow Londoners to take full advantage of Barclaycard OnePulse at the earliest opportunity, Barclaycard has launched an initial pre-registration website (www.barclaycard-onepulse.co.uk) that features information on the benefits of the three-in-one product, tips on how to use the new card and details on how consumers can register their interest so that Barclaycard can contact them as soon as they are able to apply for the new card.
