Glenbrook Payments Boot Camp Update
Glenbrook's Carol Coye Benson provides the following update on our Payments Boot Camp program: "Glenbrook just wrapped up our Payments Boot Camps for the 2006-2007 "school year". We had lively sessions in New York City last week and in the California this week." Click here to continue reading.
In New York in particular, we had many people from the investment industry - not surprising given the many going public/going private announcements in the industry lately.Emerging payments continued to be the focus of much interest - in particular, Google Checkout and mobile payments/banking.
And of course, the "form factor" debate continues. We've finished the last few boot camps by asking people: how would you prefer to pay for routine, smaller dollar purchases, such as at a coffee shop? We gave them four choices: 1) the card as they know it today, without signature; 2) a fob on their keychain which can be tapped or waved; 3) their mobile phone, again tapped or waved; and 4) their fingerprint. The winner? The mobile phone with 46% of votes, followed by cards without signature (27%), finger print (15%) and fob (12%).
Of course, our audience of "payments professionals" may not be representative of the country - or the world at large! J
Our next public Payments Boot Camps are in California in September and October - see our Boot Camp information page for details. Or, feel free to contact Carol Coye Benson to learn more about scheduling a private Payments Boot Camp at your company.
