Glenbrook Payments Boot Camp Update
Glenbrook's Carol Coye Benson provides this update on two recent Glenbrook Payments Boot Camps.
Glenbrook just wrapped up two challenging and lively Payments Boot Camps. Last week we held our core session in Atlanta for the first time, and this week we had the first of our new Merchant Payments Boot Camps. Both events were sold out and had great and diverse groups attending.
At the Atlanta Payments Boot Camp, in addition to the usual high level of interest in emerging payments, we had some very interesting discussions (in and after class) about developments in kiosk arena - and how this may (or may not!) be converging with vending machine and advanced ATM development. The potential role of contactless cards is a hot topic here. Also in Atlanta, we got some pressure to spend more time and focus on debit - which certainly makes sense given both the absolute transaction volumes and the growth rates of debit.
The Merchant Payments Boot Camp held in Santa Clara, California this week provided a chance for both merchants and processors on the acquiring side to take a hard look at best practices and the latest products, services, and companies that we've been following. The day and a half session kicked off with a drill down into what Glenbrook sees happening in payments acceptance strategies. After that we explored the latest developments in eCommerce, the retail POS environment, and mobile payments. At breaks and after class there was a lot of interest in prepaid gift cards and best practices for managing this retailer-issued payment card.
Our next Payments Boot Camp is being held in New York City on April 24-25 followed by one in the San Francisco Bay Area on May 2-3. Have questions or want to learn more? Email us at: bootcamp@glenbrook.com.
