Blogs Help Credit Card Debtors Get Out Of Debt
John Leland writes for the New York Times about several blogs that help consumers work their way out of credit card debt - by talking about it online. The blogs include BloggingAwayDebt.com, Poorer Than You!, and We're in Debt.

When I was over $200,000 in credit card debt I didn't know how to blog yet, but I'm a writer, so I wrote a book about my experiences negotiating settlements, eventually bringing my credit card debt down to only $30,000 in six months and saving over $100,000 in written off debt. IN 2007, I put $212,000 on credit for a business venture that didn't return the investment in this failing economy. I was paying nearly $4000 a month in interest, burning through savings and looking at destitution. I wasn't interested in the companies that wanted to make me think I needed them to settle my debt and charge me for it, so I jumped in myself. I've written a book that describes the entire process of going up against six, major U.S. banks and winning! It's called "The Do-It-Yourself Bailout." You can check it out at my website, http://www.thedoityourselfbailout.com, and ask me questions on my blog there. Kenny Golde
