Royal Bank of Scotland Announces New Mobile Banking Service
No, it's not what you think. I had to smile as I read the press release announcing that "The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has announced plans to launch a new mobile banking service in Yorkshire, operating from York and running five days a week. The new mobile service will provide banking to around twenty Yorkshire communities and the service will start in February 2007." These are banks on wheels, not banks on your mobile phones.
The new service will be the first of its kind from RBS to operate in the Yorkshire area and will be one of sixteen mobile banks visiting over 300 different communities throughout Scotland, England and Wales. Ewen Munro, Managing Director Royal RBS Retail said: "The Royal Bank of Scotland has a long tradition of providing customers with mobile banking services and we are delighted that we can now bring this to the communities in Yorkshire."In addition to nearly 650 branches, we will be running a total of sixteen mobile banks and a Flying Bank in Scotland, making life easier for thousands of customers since our first mobile bank was launched in 1946. At a time when some organisations are closing branches, we firmly believe that our branch network, and services such as the mobile bank, remain very important for the communities they serve."
