Online Retail Sales Increase 109% on Black Friday from 2005
Retail Decisions reports that online volumes surged 109% on a like for like basis on Black Friday. According to ReD, most online shoppers waited until the afternoon to begin their shopping. The peak shopping hour was between 3:00PM - 4:00PM and the peak shopping minute was 2:53PM.
"For the past several weeks, analysts have been predicting that this year's Black Friday could be the strongest opening to the holiday season in years," Said Carl Clump, CEO, Retail Decisions plc. "Through our global fraud prevention and payment processing platforms, we record and analyze a significant percentage of online payment transactions globally. There has certainly been a significant surge on Black Friday as retailers promote their online shopping channels as vigorously as their brick and mortar stores."
