Pay By Touch Signs Scott's Food & Pharmacy For Pilot

Tags » Pay By Touch  » Comments (0)

Pay By Touch has announced that Scott's Food & Pharmacy will be piloting finger-scan payment program at four of its stores in northeast Indiana.

The Pay By Touch system uses a secure finger scan to debit a shopper's checking account just like using a check or debit card. Finger scans are more secure than paper checks or debit cards because the account numbers are not exposed to anyone -- not even to the store associate.

"We are always looking for creative and innovative ways to improve our customers' shopping experiences," said Bill Gillispie, General Manager, Scott's Food & Pharmacy. "Pay By Touch is a win-win for Scott's. It increases shoppers' privacy and security while offering the convenience of faster checkouts. We are excited to roll out the new service, and eager to see how shoppers respond."

Scott's is the first grocery chain to adopt Pay By Touch's biometric payment service in northeast Indiana. Once the test is complete, the finger scan system will be implemented in Scott's 14 other grocery stores in a month- long launch starting November 7. Pay By Touch is also available at more than 200 retail locations in the greater Chicagoland area.

Signing up for Pay By Touch is easy with a picture ID, voided check and secure finger scan. The system is free, and customer information is never sold. Once enrolled, shoppers can immediately make purchases with the touch of a finger at any participating retailer.

"Retailers and shoppers alike benefit from Pay By Touch," said John Rogers, founder, chairman, and CEO of Pay By Touch. "Shoppers make faster, more private purchases while retailers see increased customer loyalty as a result of improved customer service."

In addition to using Pay By Touch for eCheck payment, customers may use the system to access their electronic benefits (EBT cards).
