Network Branded Prepaid Card Association Reports 28 Members

Tags » Associations, Prepaid Cards and Stored Value Cards

The Network Branded Prepaid Card Association (NBPCA), a non-profit, inter-industry trade association created to advance the success of network branded prepaid cards, has launched its first membership year with twenty-eight members, all leaders in the prepaid card industry. The NBPCA has developed a three-year business plan with specific deliverables for each year, the goal being to materially enhance the business environment for network branded prepaid cards.

Current NBPCA members include American Express, American Express Incentive Services, Amscot Financial, Inc., Baird Holm LLP, BankFirst, Blackhawk Network, Bryan Cave LLP, Card Marte Corporation, Carlson Marketing, Discover Financial Services, Ecount, eFunds Corporation, FSV Payment Systems, Inc., Green Dot Corporation, Key Bank, MasterCard Worldwide, Meta Payment Systems, Parago, Prepaid Media, RBS Lynk, Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, Springbok Services, Synovus, Tier Technologies, TSYS, TSYS Europe, TranSend LLC, and Visa USA. Financial commitments to the Association exceed $1 million, with the following organizations qualifying for membership in the NBPCA Founders’ Circle, a group of companies that have committed above the minimum dues requirements to support the founding of the association: BankFirst, Discover Financial Services, eFunds Corporation, Green Dot Corporation, MasterCard Worldwide, Meta Payment Systems, Springbok Services, TSYS, and Visa USA.

“The prestigious and diverse organizations that have committed to NBPCA membership already have established the Association as a compelling voice in this emerging industry,” said Anil D. Aggarwal, NBPCA Founder and Chairman of the Board. “The NBPCA is action oriented, relevant, and accountable.”

Working groups composed of industry representatives, NBPCA staff, and professional resources are supporting the NBPCA in achieving its defined year-by-year objectives. The NBPCA has launched two working groups that are addressing the most pressing issues facing the industry:

  • A Government Relations Working Group, headed by Judith Rinearson, a partner at Bryan Cave LLP, conducts legislative outreach including educating members; supporting the information needs of legislators, regulators, and federal agencies; and contributing proactively to positive legislative and regulatory outcomes on federal and state initiatives.
  • A Media and Consumer Education Working Group, headed by Gary Palmer, Executive Vice President of Global Business Development for eFunds Corporation, launched in June to provide public information about developments in the network branded prepaid card space. The working group is positioned to become a resource to consumer-focused media on behalf of the industry and will undertake several public outreach campaigns to improve consumer awareness and understanding of network branded prepaid cards.
Both working groups will include a best practices and standards component to address the pressing issue of identifying areas in which building consensus would benefit industry stakeholders and network branded prepaid card users.

“The NBPCA working groups are the vehicles we use to take action for our members,” added Marilyn Bochicchio, NBPCA Executive Director. “Although the NBPCA is a new organization, it has already attained a number of significant milestones. This type of action-oriented success is what members can continue to expect from the NBPCA.”
