Manager of Payment Technologies For Starbucks
Starbucks Coffee Company is looking for a Manager of Payment Technologies for its Global Treasury Team in Seattle.
Starbucks is an industry leader in the use of payment technologies and is looking for a leader to investigate emerging payment technologies and work on those applications that are relevant to Starbucks business. The candidate will have deep knowledge of payment technologies, in the retail sector, who can leverage their experience to drive new innovations in the Starbucks business model, would be ideal. As Manager of Payment Technologies you, and your team, will work globally to ensure card based forms of payment are handled by the Company efficiently. Business Requirements:
Leadership:
- Establishes and maintains bank card vendor relationships for both card issuers and processors for Starbucks domestic and international operations.
- Manages the Request for Proposal and business contract negotiation process for new processing agreements and renewals of existing contracts.
- Works on projects to support Treasury’s operations, financial risk and capital structure areas as needed.
- Works with other Starbucks departments to introduce and implement new card or other device based payment technologies. Acts as primary point of contact with Starbucks Global Card Services (SGCS) group and leads Treasury aspects of any SGCS initiatives.
Partner Development & Team Building:
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
- Supports the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Company.
- Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results.
- Plans and manages business unit/department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
- Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
Summary of Experience:

- Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- General experience of Treasury operations including cash management -- 8 years
- Domestic or international card payment experience -- 3 years
- People Management Experience -- 2 years
How to Apply
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- In-depth knowledge of the U.S. banking system
- Good knowledge of general U.S. banking and payments systems
- Good knowledge of international payment systems and bankcard products
- Good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
