Credit Cards Go To The Dogs, Cats
Hill's Pet Nutrition has announced it is partnering with Bank of America to launch the PetRewards VISA credit card that pays rewards to both pet owners and veterinary health care team members. Consumers may customize their card with their pet's picture by sending in the picture by mail or submitting a digital photo online or they may choose from three existing card designs.
PetRewards card holders will receive one point for every dollar spent on everyday purchases and two points for every dollar spent on pet-related purchases in participating veterinary clinics, pet specialty retailers, neighborhood and farm and feed stores. Consumers can earn up to 100,000 points annually. With 750 points, pet owners can redeem a $7.50 Hill's® Prescription Diet® or Science Diet® brand pet food product discount certificate, and with 1,000 points pet owners can choose either a $20 check for veterinary clinic purchases or a $10 monetary donation to one of more than 1,000 animal shelters across the country.
"Pet owners are always looking for ways to show their love for their pet and give them the best products and services possible," said Stefano Pettinella, associate marketing director at Hill's. "Through the PetRewards VISA program, Hill's is offering another way to help pet owners show devotion to the pets that depend on them, and at the same time offer an innovative tool to help offset pet-related expenses."
In addition to no annual fee, the PetRewards card also provides pet owners with a low 1.9% fixed introductory APR on purchases and balance transfers, the Total Security Protection® Package for greater defense against theft or unauthorized usage and, to get owners off to a fast start, 500 bonus points with the first usage of the card.
"Many of us have a soft spot in our hearts for our pets," said Marsha Schonekas, PetRewards marketing manager at Bank of America. "This credit card is a great way for consumers to help with expenses or make a donation to an animal shelter -- while at the same time giving us another way to show off pictures of our pets."
