Making Money From Mobile The Virgin Way
NetImperative takes a look at the UK's Virgin Mobile experience and predicts "an explosion is likely in the number of mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) over the next ten years."
The lesson is never made more clear than the success of Virgin’s virtual operator in the UK. Although Virgin Mobile piggyback’s off the T-Mobile network, it consistently outperforms all UK networks in perceived quality of service polls. T-Mobile typically comes last in these surveys, yet the actual quality of service is identical, because the product is supplied by the same company. Clearly, the Virgin brand has undue influence on consumers’ perceptions, giving significantly greater customer satisfaction for exactly the same product.
