Yahoo! Receives P2P Money Exchange Patent

Yahoo! has been issued US Patent No. 7,031,939 for "systems and methods for implementing person-to-person money exchange" based upon a filing dated August 15, 2000.

In March 2000, Yahoo! acquired Arthas.com that had been operating a P2P platform under the trade name dotBank.com. It formed the basis for Yahoo!'s PayDirect service which was shutdown in late 2004.
