The Jimi Wallet - A Card Issuer Opportunity?
A few days ago, Rob Walker wrote a story for the New York Times about the Jimi Wallet - "the wallet for people who hate wallets" (and who doesn't!).
Seems like this $16 retail wallet would be a great "surprise" for a cardholder from a card issuer as a thank you, reward, or in lieu of a toaster for opening a new account.
Better than association branded tip trays, the Jimi rides along in your pocket giving the issuer a promotional opportunity every time the wallet is pulled out of the pocket!
In the world of the future, the wallet "skin" could include the issuer's contactless chip - eliminating even the need to pull the card out of the Jimi to pay for your morning Starbucks or to hop on the Metro. The Jimi Wallet is available from Amazon.com. 1% of its sales revenue is invested in the environment - an additional "green" opportunity for bankers.
