Discover Card Offers Consumers Relief from Escalating Gas Prices

The two offerings are:

1. The Get More program gives Discover Cardmembers the opportunity to earn 5% Cashback Bonus(R) on purchases of gas, auto parts and services throughout April, May and June, plus up to 1% Cashback Bonus on all other purchases.
   
2. The Discover Platinum Gas Card offers full 5% Cashback Bonus on gas purchases and up to 1% Cashback Bonus on all other purchases all year-round.

According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), retail gas prices across the country jumped nearly 20 cents in the past two weeks. The national average price for self-serve regular unleaded increased to $2.78 a gallon, which is 54 cents higher than they were a year ago.

"As gas prices pick up speed, we are happy to help our Cardmembers spend less at the pumps," said Julie Loeger, vice president of rewards marketing for Discover Financial Services, Discover Card division. "With the Discover Platinum Gas Card or the Get More program, we are offering our Cardmembers two great ways to earn bigger rewards, faster and easier, on purchases that are part of their daily lives."

The Get More Program Provides Relief At The Pumps From April Through June

From April 1 through June 30, Cardmembers who take advantage of the Get More program will receive a full 5% Cashback Bonus on gas purchases at all gas stations across the country, as well as on auto parts and services at a number of leading national partners, including Autozone(R), Firestone Complete Auto Care(TM), Pep Boys, Midas(R), and Sears Auto Center. Cardmembers who take advantage of this program could see savings of $50 for gas and auto service purchases and $300 if they participate in the Get More program all year round, plus up to 1% Cashback Bonus on all other purchases.

The Get More program is free to Discover Cardmembers and it's an opportunity for them to earn 5% Cashback Bonus in over 15 different categories that align with their seasonal shopping needs. Every three months the categories change so Cardmembers have the opportunity to earn additional rewards throughout the year. For example, in July, August and September, Cardmembers can get 5% Cashback Bonus on apparel, supplies and education expenses. In October, November and December, the Get More program features 5% Cashback Bonus on holiday shopping items such as music and books. Since the program's inception in 2005, over 10 million participants have taken advantage of the Get More program.

Year-Round Savings On Gas With The Discover Platinum Gas Card

For consumers who wish to earn year-round savings on gas, The Discover Platinum Gas Card offers Cardmembers full 5% Cashback Bonus on all gas purchases and up to 1% Cashback Bonus on all other purchases.

The card also offers additional industry-leading features such as unlimited cash rewards that never expire for active Cardmembers, the option to get their rewards in cash or double their rewards (turn $20 into $40) when they redeem for gift cards or certificates from many of Discover's 60 brand-name partners, complete fraud protection, customer service that puts Cardmembers first and no annual fee.
