Personal Checks To Go Way Of Dinosaurs
Bill Virgin, columnist for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, asks whether you need a checking account (yes) and, if so, do you actually need paper checks? "Instead of talking about "free checking" accounts, maybe what we ought to be discussing is "check-free" accounts."
It may just be that they stick with the term "checking account" long after the actual checks have disappeared. When we tell someone to call a telephone number, we tell the person to "dial" it -- and when was the last time you actually encountered a telephone with a rotary dial on it?
