No Cash? God Takes Electronic Payments
Gregg Krupa writes for The Detroit News about how churches are slowly beginning to accept contributions electronically, in addition to the traditional cash and checks in their weekly offering plates.
"I don't think it is intended in any way to replace the general approach to people making their Sunday offerings in the basket," said Monsignor William Easton, pastor at the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, where about 150 people among 4,400 families have signed up for electronic debiting since it was offered beginning in February."But there are a number of people who do things electronically, more and more. They are writing fewer and fewer checks, and it would be convenient for them to set that up electronically," Easton said.
