Federation for Identity and Cross-Credentialing Systems
The Federation for Identity and Cross-Credentialing Systems, a coalition of government contractors, companies and not-for- profit organizations supporting development and implementation of an interoperable identity cross-credentialing network, has announced an agreement with the Department of Defense to create an interoperable identity network and an expanded membership base now including two of the nation's largest financial institutions: Citigroup and Wells Fargo.
"Our expanding membership reinforces our premise that reliable identity verification is important to a broad cross-section of organizations," said FiXs President-Elect Mike Mestrovich."The ability to trust an identity credential issued by a third party is important to banks, as well as to a variety of private companies and government agencies. In the coming months, this government/industry venture will begin a joint deployment effort to make the network interoperable in hundreds of sites worldwide."
