Chicago Fed Announces 2006 Payments Conference
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago has announced its sixth payments conference "Investing in Payment Innovations: Risks and Rewards" to be held May 11-12, 2006 at the Chicago Fed.
The conference will explore recent trends in the adoption of payment technologies and will address the following questions:See also the Conference Agenda and Conference Brochure.
- What are key features of successful investment strategies in payments?
- How important are end-user benefits in driving the adoption of new payment technologies?
- How should payment system participants position themselves to meet global security challenges?
Speakers will include decision-makers from financial institutions, payment networks, merchants, payment innovators, venture capital firms, and central banks, along with academics.
The conference will open on Thursday, May 11, with a keynote address by Donald L. Kohn, Governor, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Anil D. Aggarwal, Chief Executive Officer of TSYS Prepaid, will begin proceedings on Friday, May 12, with a keynote address. The conference will feature five moderated panels on confronting security threats, emerging technologies at points of sale, prepaid card applications, payment investment strategies, and cross-border payments.
Speakers will include representatives from the American Red Cross, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, Cisco Systems, Duane Reade, McDonald's, Microsoft, Safeway, Discover Financial Services, MasterCard International, La Caixa, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, eFunds Prepaid Solutions, Fiserv, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Department of the Treasury, Cardinal Venture Capital, Total Technology Ventures, Deloitte and Touche USA, and Dove Consulting, along with leading security expert Mikko H. Hypponen.
