Australia Could Profit From Smart Card Lag
Karen Dearne reports for Australian IT that Australia may benefit from being a "late adopter" of smart card technologies.
"Compared with its neighbours, Australia has been slow to adopt smartcard technology," says Sony Australia smartcard manager Adam Faulkner. "Hong Kong's Octopus transport card, for example, celebrates its 10th birthday next year. The positive thing about being a late adopter is that you can take the best elements from systems deployed elsewhere."
