ShopBillMeLater Attracts New Customers for Retailers

Tags » Bill Me Later, ECommerce Payments, Merchants

I4 Commerce has announced that its ShopBillMeLater.com website activity grew 580 percent over Q4 2004 activity. The ShopBillMeLater.com web site provides a directory of merchants who accept I4's Bill Me Later payment service along with special offers from participating merchants.

"Retailers that participated in the website, correspondence, offers and email programs reported that they grew sales during the holiday season. Significantly, analysis indicates 33 percent of these were incremental, coming from new customers to the retailers."

"With nearly 250 multichannel retailers now offering customers Bill Me Later as a preferred payment method, the power of our network to attract top- spending customers continues to grow," said Vince Talbert, vice president of marketing, I4 Commerce.

"Bill Me Later users are typically affluent, family oriented, female shoppers who have not frequently purchased online, and network marketing is the most successful program to convert them to buyers. By tapping into our base with strategic and integrated marketing, retailers reach a customer they have not been able to fully capture online in the past - - all at minimal or no cost to the retailer."

"We were able to track back 20 percent of our 4th quarter Bill Me Later sales specifically to the Marketing programs. In addition we found that 33 percent cross use, and a 167 percent increase cross use dollars versus last year," said Gary Lindsey, VP Marketing, eToys.

"Lamps Plus enjoyed 27 percent cross use in the fourth quarter and saw excellent results from the co-op marketing programs," said Christopher Cruz, Business Development Manager, Internet, Lamps Plus.

With Bill Me Later, customers who do not have a credit card handy, or prefer not to use a credit card online due to security concerns, simply provide basic information, such as date of birth, to make a purchase. Within seconds, qualified customers complete their purchase and receive a bill from Bill Me Later within 14 days, which they can pay in full or finance over time.
