First Data to Provide Global Merchant Solutions to HSBC
First Data Corp. has announced it has signed a three-year global merchant processing agreement between its affiliate OmniPay, an international merchant acquiring platform, and HSBC.
Under the terms of the agreement, OmniPay will enable HSBC to acquire merchants with a Pan-European or global presence on a single processing platform, consolidating all treasury, reporting and support requirements. Additionally, entering into a global acquiring contract with HSBC eliminates the need for merchants to negotiate market-by-market contracts.
Commenting on the deal, Mark Robinson, Managing Director, Group Cards, HSBC, said: "We chose First Data and OmniPay because we recognize they are the only provider that can help us launch a truly global acquiring proposition. The OmniPay platform provides tremendous flexibility to implement new countries, currencies and languages without development. This, coupled with First Data's experience in international acquiring, and HSBC's reach, gives HSBC a unique advantage in the market."Pam Patsley, president, First Data International, added: "We are pleased to expand our partnership with HSBC to provide scale, multi-currency acquiring and flexibility to its global merchants. This important agreement is further testament to First Data's long-standing commitment to maintaining our leadership position in facilitating global commerce for our bank partners and merchants."
"This deal cements OmniPay's position as the market leader in the provision of multi-currency merchant services," said Brian Connolly, CEO of OmniPay. "When OmniPay was established in 2000, we specifically built solutions that would enable acquiring banks to support their multinational corporate customers as they expanded their business into new geographic markets. We now provide a full suite of merchant processing services, and have seen significant growth in e-Commerce volumes in the past few years. We are very excited about this new relationship with HSBC, a truly global financial institution."
