Australia: Credit Card Fees To Hit Flights
Adam Bell of NEWS.com.au reports from Australia on the move by Qantas Holidays increasing its so-called service fee on credit card payments from one to 1.4 percent.
The airline is among the first to increase credit card surcharges since they were introduced three years ago. Airlines and Telstra took advantage of the Reserve Bank's reforms to allow businesses to charge credit card transaction fees in 2003. The reform paved the way for businesses to pass on their costs of processing credit card payments directly on to the customer as a service fee.
