American Express Update
American Express held a financial community update presentation today.

As Bill Glenn discussed back in August, our unique position as a payment network and merchant acquirer means we have direct relationships with merchants, which is unlike either the associations or other issuers. These merchant relationships are incredibly valuable when it comes to the scope and depth of the reward options we can offer. I believe we’ve effectively used rewards as a competitive weapon and as a key differentiator in the marketplace.
