Dynamic Passcode Displayed On A Visa Card
Visa says it is working with Innovative Card Technologies and nCryptone to offer a new technology that enables Visa payment cards to generate and display a dynamic passcode for one-time use when banking or shopping online. The generated passcode is only accepted once and is useless in subsequent transactions. Visa expects the new display card to be available in select markets later this year.
The concept is similar to token- or reader-based security features for corporate laptop computers and other networked devices. However, rather than requiring a separate token device, the technology is integrated into the card, making it more convenient for cardholders to use and less expensive for banks to issue.
