Credit Card Offers Plague College Students

Tags » Consumer Debt

Emily Smith reports for the student newspaper at Ohio's Wright State University on credit card debt of college students.

Executive Director of Alumni Relations Susan Smith said the Wright State University Alumni Association has an affinity agreement with MBNA, as do over 700 other colleges and universities in the U.S. The company does not offer pre-approved credit lines and is careful to allow modest credit limits.

"We are certainly not 'promoting credit card debt' but we do believe that it is important for students to understand the importance of establishing and maintaining a good credit rating," she added.
