Ask Glenbrook: Ecommerce Sales Volumes?

Tags » Ask Glenbrook, ECommerce Payments

Here's another Ask Glenbrook question:

Where can I find official ecommerce sales volumes?

The US Census Bureau within the Department of Commerce tracks and reports quarterly retail e-commerce sales volume information and posts it on their website as released. The following definition is used for e-commerce sales:

E-commerce sales are sales of goods and services where an order is placed by the buyer or price and terms of sale are negotiated over the Internet, an extranet, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) network, or other online system. Payment may or may not be made online.
