While no one's survival is imperiled just yet-all four have enough cash on their balance sheets to continue on for the time being-the biggest question hovering over the space might be if there's room for standalone Internet banking vendors at all, or if, as often happens when industry niches mature, those firms will be digested by larger companies with grander ambitions. "Who's a survivor?" Penny asks rhetorically. "None of them. In three years, I don't see any of them being around as independents."
