Gift Cards: The New Faces Of Holiday Plastic

One of the top gift-card providers in the nation, Stored Value Systems, is based in Louisville and helps retailers, restaurants and others design their card programs as well as process their transactions using the magnetic stripe on the back of the card. Bob Skiba, executive vice president of Stored Value Systems, said the company's client base has doubled during the last three years.
The company, a subsidiary of Comdata, provides gift-card services for retailers, restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores, airlines, hotels and even the online dating service EHarmony. The company recently added Wynn Las Vegas casino to its lineup, Skiba said.
