Walgreens and Next Estate Communications Partner on Prepaid Debit Cards
Next Estate Communications, which claims it has more than 90 percent market share with its association-branded prepaid cards, has announced that it is partnering with Walgreens to offer GreenDot prepaid cards to consumers.
"Walgreens is excited to partner with NEC on this latest offering," said Arnie Silver, Divisional Vice President and General Merchandise Manager for Walgreens. "Stored value cards are a new growth category, and the Green Dot prepaid Visa and MasterCard program will bring greater convenience and value to our customers across the country."Starting today, consumers may purchase and reload a Green Dot Prepaid Visa or Green Dot Prepaid MasterCard card, issued by Columbus Bank and Trust, at nearly 5,000 Walgreens locations nationwide, increasing the total locations carrying NEC card products to more than 45,000 across the U.S.
To introduce Green Dot prepaid cards and the Green Dot Financial Network to its customers, Walgreens will promote the program via circular advertisements, coupons, rebates and clip-strips of card packages throughout the store.
